About the Company
Warung Pintar is a technology company from Indonesia that serves stalls to develop their businesses
Background Problem
Manual routing plan resulted in inefficient delivery distance and high gasoline cost
Project Goal
To increase the efficiency of delivery by reducing its distance and cost of gasoline consumption with the help of routing automation
My Role
As the interaction designer I helped designing the user flow and crafting the user interface
Impact
By developing the Routing Module using automated routing, we could potentially make Warung Pintar reduce its average delivery distance by 1.8x

What I have designed

Condition
Routing admin on each warehouse would select some sales orders to be delivered for the day after. They would batch the delivery based on several factors, but for each admin, their calculation differs from one another.
Problem & Opportunity
Inconsistency of the routing calculation, and the absence of analyzing the routing efficiency, creates room for impovement to make the routing standardized and more efficient in order to create shorter delivery distances, save cost on gasoline consumption, and enhance operational productivity
Improvement
With the help of the data team, a routing logic is created that theoretically can reduce the delivery distance up to 1.8x shorter. The only thing that the admin needed to do was to select the orders, and the software would create a draft routing for them
Condition
Even though the system could calculate an efficient route, but technically it could not factor in the Jakarta's odd-even license plate traffic rule
Design
Considering the technical constraint, we decided to enable the routing admin to do editing on the draft. They could:
1. Switch the fleet with a different license plate
2. Move a sales order to another fleet
Hypothesis
Entrusting the system to create a draft route but giving room for human to analyze it would help the work of the admin without the risk of breaking traffic rules
Design
The status of each sales order in a delivery batch could be monitored from the routing document table

I opened Mixpanel & UX Cam, getting insight on user’s search behavior pattern.Here is what I found:
